Ayodhya Seers Demand CBI Probe into Ram Mandir Donation Theft

A peaceful gathering of seers in Ayodhya aimed at addressing the alleged embezzlement of Ram Mandir donations was abruptly shut down by local authorities this week. The move has ignited accusations of administrative negligence and prompted threats of a mass movement unless a central investigation into the temple's financial dealings is launched.

Ayodhya Seers Demand CBI Probe into Ram Mandir Donation Theft

Mahamandaleshwar Prakashanand Giri accused local officials of obstructing a memorandum intended for the Chief Minister, questioning why such promptness was not applied to the actual theft of offerings. The controversy centers on allegations that temple staff and bank employees systematically siphoned funds. Giri explicitly linked the local administration's resistance to a fear of deeper exposure, warning that the return of former Trust General Secretary Champat Rai would destabilize the government.

Eight individuals, including Avinash Shukla and Karunesh Pandey, have already been arrested and remanded into judicial custody. Despite these arrests, the protesting seers insist that the current measures are insufficient, demanding a full-scale CBI probe to uncover the full extent of the corruption. The opposition has joined the call for higher-level accountability as public scrutiny intensifies over the management of the temple's assets.
