Bank CenterCredit has become the sole active partner in Kazakhstan for the IFC’s Global Trade Finance Program, acting as both an issuing and confirming bank. This agreement provides the financial backing necessary for letters of credit, which are essential for businesses attempting to secure overseas suppliers or finalize export orders. For smaller firms that often struggle to establish correspondent banking relationships, these IFC-backed guarantees serve as a critical risk-mitigation tool.
Ruslan Vladimirov, President of Bank CenterCredit, described the inclusion in the program as a milestone for the institution's ability to serve corporate clients. The initiative arrives at a time when local businesses are increasingly looking to move beyond domestic borders but are often hindered by the cautious risk appetite of traditional lenders. Zafar Khashimov, IFC Country Manager for Kazakhstan, noted that such instruments are designed to foster long-term economic resilience and job creation by integrating local firms into global trade networks.
Since its inception in 2005, the Global Trade Finance Program has facilitated over 100,000 transactions, totaling more than $141 billion in trade support across emerging markets. By tapping into this network, Bank CenterCredit intends to provide its clients with a more reliable pathway for international commerce, ensuring that viable business opportunities are not lost due to a lack of traditional financial infrastructure.
