Reddy had intended to lead a 'Telangana Rising' delegation on a ten-day tour of the UK and the US to sign memorandums of understanding with various educational institutions. While the UK leg proceeded, the Ministry of External Affairs withheld political clearance for the American portion of the trip. The Chief Minister contends that his administration is committed to following federal regulations to secure foreign capital, arguing that the denial stems solely from the central government's political opposition.
In response to the allegations, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the proposed itinerary for the US visit was deemed inappropriate for the office held and the stated purpose of the trip. Jaiswal noted that all foreign travel requests from state dignitaries undergo a rigorous assessment process before clearance is granted. Reddy maintains that his objective remains purely economic, emphasizing his desire to welcome global investors regardless of their origin.
