Nemra villagers confront JLKM leader over recruitment reform rally

The standoff in Ramgarh district centered on the launch of Mahto’s 24-district 'Recruitment System Reform Yatra,' which targets alleged corruption within the state’s JPSC and JSSC testing bodies. Local villagers, who refer to the Chief Minister as their 'Manjhi-Haram,' asserted that any outsider must seek permission from village leadership before entering. Protester Anil warned that residents were prepared to use force to prevent Mahto from carrying out what they perceived as a provocative act against their leader.

Despite the hostility at the village perimeter, Mahto and a group of students proceeded with the campaign launch at Lukaiya Tand. The event included traditional rituals, the planting of a sal sapling, and a tribute to former Chief Minister Shibu Soren’s statue. Mahto emphasized that the yatra aims to secure a transparent examination system for the state’s youth, with plans to visit over 20 districts across Jharkhand. The campaign demands a complete overhaul of current recruitment processes, framing the movement as a fight for the dignity and future of local students.
