Supreme Court Allows Construction of Trump White House Ballroom

Donald Trump celebrated the ruling on Truth Social, describing the project as a vital "Military/Ballroom Complex" essential for national security. He claimed the construction is currently ahead of schedule and under budget. The project, which involves the demolition of the historic East Wing, has faced intense scrutiny from historical preservation groups and legal experts who argue that such a significant structural overhaul requires explicit congressional approval.

Solicitor General John Sauer defended the initiative before the Supreme Court, framing the President as the sole authority responsible for securing the executive grounds. Sauer emphasized that the project is 65 percent complete and argued that halting work would compromise the safety of the President and his successors. Despite Trump’s assertions that the ballroom is privately financed, reports indicate that taxpayer funds are contributing to a total project cost estimated at $600 million. This ballroom is one of several ambitious infrastructure changes Trump aims to complete before his term concludes in January 2029.
