Tejashwi Yadav Detained During Patna Student Rights March

Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav and MP Misa Bharti were taken into police custody today while leading a march toward Lok Bhavan in Patna. The protest, aimed at challenging the state government over rampant unemployment and repeated exam paper leaks, saw RJD leadership confronted by security forces mid-demonstration.

The RJD-led march sought to force a public reckoning regarding systemic failures in the state’s examination process. Following his removal from the streets, Yadav accused the administration of fearing youth empowerment, characterizing the arrests as an attempt to silence dissent rather than address the underlying crisis of integrity in public recruitment.

Misa Bharti reinforced this stance, suggesting that the party and its supporters are prepared for further incarceration to secure their demands, which include the immediate suspension of the District Magistrate of Siwan. Tensions were already high following a recent incident in Siwan where a police officer brandished an AK-47 during a student demonstration, fueling broader accusations of excessive state force against the youth. The RJD maintains that these detentions will not derail their campaign to hold the government accountable for the rights and futures of Bihar’s students.
