Russian Supreme Court Finalizes Yabloko Election Ban

The Supreme Court of Russia has finalized the exclusion of the Yabloko party from next month’s parliamentary elections, rejecting a final appeal to overturn the lower court's ruling. This decision effectively silences the only registered political organization campaigning on a platform of ending Russia’s military engagement in Ukraine.

The legal challenge originated from the nationalist Rodina party, a group frequently aligned with Kremlin policy. Rodina’s leadership accused Yabloko of serving as a conduit for Western influence and attempting to undermine national stability through electoral subversion. Yabloko representatives have consistently dismissed these allegations as groundless, maintaining that their platform reflects the genuine anti-war sentiment held by a significant portion of the Russian electorate. Despite the judicial setback, the party leadership insists their political message remains intact.
