Trump-Linked Crypto Firm Facilitates Access to Restricted Chinese AI

A cryptocurrency platform backed by the Trump family is providing users access to advanced artificial intelligence models developed by Chinese firms, including several entities currently under U.S. national security restrictions. The partnership with Hong Kong-based WorldClaw forces a confrontation between the administration's hardline tech policies and its private financial interests.

WorldClaw hosts 90 different AI models, accepting payments in World Liberty Financial tokens. A review reveals that 43 of these models originate from Chinese developers such as Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai. The Trump family holds a 38% stake in World Liberty Financial, drawing revenue from the platform’s crypto tokens and the interest generated by the underlying stablecoin assets. While the exact financial gain remains unquantified, the arrangement has drawn public promotion from Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

The collaboration highlights a sharp friction in U.S. policy. While the administration has blacklisted firms like Z.ai and designated companies like Alibaba and Baidu as military-aligned, these same restricted models remain accessible through the crypto-backed portal. Security experts warn that such access invites potential Chinese government monitoring, censorship, and the risk of malicious code integration. WorldClaw maintains that it is an independent entity and that providing access to a model is not an endorsement of the developer. The White House has denied any conflict of interest, asserting that the President’s actions remain aligned with the public good. The situation underscores the growing tension between enforcing strategic tech barriers and the commercial pressure to utilize cost-effective Chinese AI alternatives.
