Ternopil Upgrades Public Infrastructure with EU Funding

The energy-efficiency upgrades at kindergartens No. 1, No. 14, No. 20, and No. 21 represent a €5 million investment under the Ukraine Municipal Infrastructure Programme. These facilities now feature improved insulation, modernized heating, and upgraded ventilation systems. Officials project these improvements will slash energy consumption by at least 20%, ensuring warmer environments for over 1,100 children and their staff while lowering utility costs for the municipality.

Simultaneously, the city has integrated 17 new low-floor trolleybuses into its transit network via the Ukraine Urban Public Transport Project II. Manufactured by ElectronMash LLC, these vehicles are equipped with modern amenities including GPS tracking, climate control, and accessibility ramps. This €5.5 million project not only enhances public mobility but also bolsters the domestic manufacturing sector. Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport, noted that such initiatives allow communities to rebuild with a focus on efficiency and modern standards. Mayor Serhii Nadal emphasized that these practical improvements provide tangible benefits to residents, ensuring that essential city services remain reliable and sustainable despite the broader challenges facing the country.
