Kiren Rijiju Calls for Cooperation with Opposition Amid Parliamentary Row

The tension escalated in the Rajya Sabha, where Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge renewed demands for a statement from Shah concerning police actions against student protesters at Jantar Mantar. Kharge cited past parliamentary precedents to defend the opposition’s right to seek accountability from the government. In response, Rijiju rebuked Kharge, stating that the Leader of the Opposition lacks the authority to dictate terms to the Chair. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan ultimately intervened, urging Rijiju to relay the opposition's concerns to the Home Minister rather than dismissing the request outright.
