Middle Eastern Powers Denounce Gaza Strikes as Israel Defends Actions

A coalition of regional powers including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey issued a sharp rebuke on Thursday, accusing Israel of systematic violations against healthcare and civilian infrastructure in Gaza. The joint declaration highlights a widening diplomatic chasm as the death toll among Palestinians continues to climb following months of intense military engagement.

The joint statement, supported by ministers from Qatar, Jordan, Pakistan, and Indonesia, places the blame for deteriorating humanitarian conditions squarely on Israeli forces. Palestinian health officials report that 1,200 people have been killed in the last nine months alone, many of them women and children, despite a U.S.-mediated ceasefire established last October.

Israel’s prime minister’s office dismissed the condemnation as a distortion of reality. Doron Spielman, the office's international spokesman, argued the coalition ignores the fundamental requirements of President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan. According to Israel, Hamas has exploited the ceasefire to rearm, rebuild tunnel networks, and recruit new fighters. While Trump recently claimed a breakthrough in his initiative to end the conflict, the ground reality remains defined by mutual accusations of bad faith. Hamas, which governed the strip for nearly two decades before the October 7, 2023, attack, has maintained its position even as the diplomatic pressure from regional neighbors intensifies.
