However, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology has rejected this explanation as insufficient. Dubey, the BJP MP for Godda, characterized the incident as a recurring pattern of interference, suggesting the company’s actions reflect a broader intent to destabilize national discourse.

Beyond this specific incident, the committee scrutinized the opaque nature of social media algorithms. Dubey claimed that major platforms, including Meta, X, and YouTube, systematically prioritize content from unregistered entities over established political parties. He cited data suggesting that fringe forums frequently garner higher engagement than official political channels, a trend he attributes to deliberate policies favoring newcomers. The panel is now examining broader compliance failures, noting that these platforms also face criticism for failing to adequately address content related to child sexual abuse and the safety of women, despite existing directives from the Home and IT Ministries.
