Former Twelve Capital trio launches Zurich cat bond firm

Zurich has gained a new player in the alternative investment market as Atmos Capital Partners officially opens its doors. Founded by three former Twelve Capital executives—Matt Fischer, Etienne Schwartz, and Martin Sennrich—the firm aims to carve out a specialized niche focusing on catastrophe bonds and liquid insurance-linked securities.

The leadership team brings significant pedigree to the venture, drawing from their previous tenures at Twelve Capital. Fischer, serving as CEO, previously held the role of Partner and Chief Strategy Officer, while Schwartz transitions from his position as Partner and CIO for Liquid Strategies. Sennrich, who acts as General Counsel, adds a legal background spanning Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Swiss Life Asset Managers, and the Swiss regulator Finma.

Atmos plans to distinguish its investment approach through a heavy emphasis on granular risk selection and disciplined portfolio construction. To support these efforts, the firm has aligned itself with Nilo Analytics, an affiliated entity dedicated to research and modeling. Backed by private investors with deep roots in insurance and financial markets, the firm intends to launch its debut liquid alternative offering before the end of the year. Fischer noted that the firm views cat bonds as the foundational element, with plans to layer on complementary strategies as the business matures.
