BJP spokesperson attacks Kapil Sibal over legal defense of CJP

BJP spokesperson Prakash Reddy has publicly challenged Kapil Sibal’s moral standing, arguing the Congress MP holds no ethical right to defend individuals linked to the Cockroach Janta Party. The confrontation intensifies as Sibal demands government accountability for police actions against protestors, further straining the already volatile Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Reddy’s criticism centers on Sibal’s dual role as a senior advocate and political figure, specifically targeting his legal advocacy for those protesting recent NEET irregularities. The BJP spokesperson alleged that during Sibal’s previous tenure as Education Minister, multiple national-level examination papers were compromised, suggesting a pattern of behavior that disqualifies him from representing those currently under scrutiny for anti-social activities.

Sibal, meanwhile, has shifted the focus toward the Home Ministry’s silence regarding the use of pellet guns during protests at Jantar Mantar. He argues that the lack of public condemnation from the Home Minister implies tacit consent for the actions taken by local authorities. The dispute coincides with the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026. While Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju maintains that the new legislation strengthens the legal framework against exam malpractice, opposition parties continue to allege that the bill is a reactionary measure designed to suppress student dissent rather than address systemic failures.
