Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Russian Tanker Fleet

Commanders of Ukraine’s drone units confirmed a surge in maritime strikes this week, claiming hits against four additional Russian tankers. The operation, centered in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, marks a sustained effort to disrupt the logistical arteries supporting Russian military positions in contested coastal waters.

Robert Brovdi, who leads the Ukrainian drone forces, detailed the scale of the campaign via Telegram on Thursday. According to his report, the recent strikes are part of a broader tactical offensive that has accounted for 205 vessels damaged over the past three weeks. This figure includes 130 tankers targeted in the Sea of Azov and 75 in the Black Sea.

The use of unmanned aerial systems to challenge naval logistics signals a shift in how Ukraine projects power across these strategic maritime zones. By focusing on tankers, Kyiv aims to degrade the fuel supply chain essential for Russian operations in the region, turning previously secure waters into high-risk zones for Russian logistical assets.
