Russian Missile Breach Reported Near Polish Border

A Russian Kh-101 cruise missile allegedly breached Polish airspace during a massive aerial assault on Ukraine early Sunday, prompting an urgent investigation by Warsaw. The incident, marked by a radar disappearance and a subsequent crater discovery in the Lublin province, underscores the deepening security risks facing NATO’s eastern flank.

Russian Missile Breach Reported Near Polish Border

Polish authorities scrambled fighter jets to secure the border after radar systems tracked an unidentified object moving westward at approximately 3:40 a.m. The target vanished from monitoring screens shortly after, leading to the deployment of a Mi-24 helicopter to survey the area. Search teams later located a large crater and scattered debris situated between two villages in the Lublin region.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed the breach, identifying the projectile as part of a wider Russian offensive that struck targets as far west as Lviv, resulting in at least eight casualties. Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that officials are currently analyzing the remnants to verify the origin of the object. This development follows a period of heightened vigilance in Poland, where the proximity of the ongoing conflict continues to strain regional stability.
