Three Dead After Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Belgorod Region

Three people died and 19 others suffered injuries Tuesday when Ukrainian drone strikes targeted civilian transport and local infrastructure in Russia’s Belgorod border region. The assault, which included a direct hit on a bus near Shebekino, triggered a sharp diplomatic rebuke from Moscow as regional authorities scrambled to manage the casualties.

Regional officials confirmed that a separate drone strike hit a business in a village near the border, resulting in two fatalities, while a third individual was killed in an attack on the outskirts of Belgorod city. Nearly all 19 passengers aboard the Shebekino bus required hospitalization following the strike, which Moscow officials characterized as a deliberate campaign against public transit.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned the actions, accusing Kyiv of targeting civilians with what she termed "maniacal persistence." Conversely, the Ukrainian military rejected the allegations, dismissing claims of systematic targeting as baseless. The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing cross-border hostilities, further straining the volatile frontline situation.
