Tatiana Proskuryakova to Direct World Bank Operations in the Pacific

Proskuryakova brings over three decades of international experience to the role, having most recently served as the World Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia. Her career trajectory includes extensive work in infrastructure, institutional reform, and economic development across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. This background is intended to bolster the institution’s capacity to address the unique pressures of geographic isolation and climate vulnerability in the Pacific.

Her mandate covers the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu. The World Bank is currently active in these territories, funding initiatives that range from digital connectivity and healthcare improvements to the construction of climate-resilient transport networks. Proskuryakova noted the region presents both significant development obstacles and distinct opportunities for sustainable growth. Moving forward, she will oversee the bank's efforts to provide technical expertise and budget support, aiming to strengthen public services and foster job creation alongside regional government and private sector partners.
