Canadian Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu confirmed the agreement during a press conference in Toronto, pointing to lowered tariffs and improved market entry as the primary catalysts for bilateral growth. The deal targets specific high-value sectors, including aerospace, clean technology, engineering, and agri-food, which now face fewer barriers to entry in the region.
While officials have yet to set a formal signing date, the framework is moving into an expedited legal review and ratification phase. UAE Foreign Trade Minister Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi indicated that the partnership extends beyond trade goods, with significant capital inflows expected from the UAE into the Canadian energy sector. Automotive and machinery manufacturers are poised to see the most immediate gains, as both nations look to solidify a supply chain link that bypasses traditional North American trade dependencies.
