Thales Reports 12 Billion Euro Order Surge Amid Defense Expansion

Global military spending has pushed Thales to a staggering 21% increase in order intake during the first half of 2026. The French aerospace giant booked 12.47 billion euros in new contracts, comfortably outperforming market expectations that had predicted only marginal growth for the period.

This financial momentum translated into a robust bottom line, with organic sales climbing 7.8% to 10.95 billion euros. Profitability followed suit, as adjusted earnings before interest and tax rose 11.4% to reach 1.37 billion euros, driven by heightened demand for the company’s specialized surveillance and defense systems.

Beyond current results, leadership is doubling down on long-term industrial consolidation. Plans remain on track for a joint satellite venture with Airbus and Leonardo, targeted for completion by 2027. Simultaneously, the company is moving to acquire naval drone specialist Exail. That integration, expected to conclude in late 2027, signals a calculated shift toward dominance in the underwater warfare sector.
