Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday to coordinate federal support for the rescue mission. The Centre has pledged comprehensive aid to the state government as disaster management teams work to clear the debris blocking the tunnel entrance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also receiving updates on the crisis, maintaining direct communication with state leadership to monitor the situation.
Local authorities, alongside the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, are managing the site under the oversight of the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority. The primary focus remains on navigating the hazardous conditions inside the tunnel, where the combination of structural instability and potential gas leaks has intensified the urgency for the specialized response crews currently on the ground.
