Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that defensive forces intercepted 85 drones before they could penetrate the capital’s central districts. Despite these efforts, the scale of the incursion marks a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict. Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov identified the hardest-hit areas as the southern and western suburbs, where emergency services continue to battle structural fires triggered by the debris.
This spike in activity follows a lethal weekend strike on a Wildberries logistics center that claimed seven lives. While the Russian Defence Ministry claims to have neutralized the majority of the incoming threats across the Black Sea and mainland territories, the sheer volume of the overnight barrage highlights a growing vulnerability in regional air defense capabilities.
