US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran Following Fatal Jordan Attack

Two American soldiers were killed in Jordan during an Iranian ballistic missile and drone assault, triggering a swift retaliatory response from Washington. US Central Command confirmed the strikes aim to degrade Tehran's capability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and serve as a direct punitive measure.

The military action marks the eighth consecutive night of hostilities, ordered by President Donald Trump. Beyond the immediate casualty count, one service member remains missing, while four others were hospitalized and subsequently discharged. Since the conflict erupted on February 28, the death toll among US military personnel has reached 16, underscoring the intensity of the ongoing regional escalation.

This cycle of violence follows the collapse of a 14-point peace deal signed on June 17 by Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The agreement, intended to halt military operations within 60 days, disintegrated on July 8 when Trump declared it over, citing Iranian non-compliance. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei publicly condemned the collapse, labeling the American president’s signature as worthless and vowing that the Resistance Front would deliver unforgettable lessons to the United States. Meanwhile, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior military adviser, warned that Tehran would abandon its policy of measured retaliation in favor of full-scale offensive operations if the American bombardment persists.
