Congress Demands Supreme Court Oversight in Ram Mandir Donation Probe

Alleging a systemic cover-up, Congress leader Danish Ali has demanded that the Supreme Court take control of the investigation into the embezzlement of donations meant for the Ram Mandir. Ali contends that the current state-led inquiry lacks the impartiality required to hold those responsible for the theft accountable.

Ali argues that the Special Investigation Team established by the Uttar Pradesh government is inherently compromised, as it reports to officials linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. By his account, the investigation is being steered by the very individuals who allowed the theft to occur under their supervision. He has echoed calls from UP Congress chief Ajay Rai for a high-level, independent probe to bypass local political influence.

The Supreme Court has stepped into the fray, issuing notices to the Centre, the Uttar Pradesh government, and the Trust. Justices have requested a formal status report on the SIT's findings ahead of a hearing scheduled for next Monday. Meanwhile, legal proceedings continue in Ayodhya, where a local court has extended the judicial custody of eight individuals implicated in the scandal.
