BJP Threatens 100 Crore Defamation Suit Against Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Sat Paul Sharma has demanded a public apology or the immediate disclosure of evidence following accusations from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding alleged bribery attempts targeting National Conference MLAs. The BJP leadership signaled a readiness to pursue a 100 crore rupee defamation lawsuit if the claims persist.

Sharma explicitly rejected the allegations during an interview with ANI, characterizing the Chief Minister’s statements as a calculated effort to tarnish the party’s reputation. He challenged Abdullah to substantiate the claims by naming the individuals purportedly involved in the bribery scheme, warning that failure to provide proof would result in formal legal proceedings.

Beyond the legal ultimatum, the state BJP leadership shifted the focus toward the National Conference’s governance record. Sharma accused the party of neglecting regional development and dismissed their upcoming protest at Jantar Mantar as a strategic maneuver designed to disrupt Parliamentary sessions for political optics rather than addressing genuine public grievances.
