Union Minister Parshottam Rupala confirmed the committee’s arrival in Uttar Pradesh, signaling that the panel is operating on a tight schedule to finalize its recommendations for Parliament. While the Chairman remains the primary voice for the committee’s internal deliberations, the scope of the inquiry extends beyond assembly synchronization to include the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur emphasized the breadth of the outreach, noting that the committee is actively engaging with stakeholders ranging from banking experts to legal scholars. By conducting these consultations across diverse states, the JPC aims to generate a comprehensive report that addresses the logistical and constitutional hurdles inherent in holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly polls.
