BJP Demands Proof After Abdullah Alleges MLA Poaching Attempt

Conflict erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah after the latter accused the party of orchestrating a campaign to buy National Conference lawmakers. The BJP swiftly rejected these claims as baseless, demanding either immediate evidence of the alleged scheme or a public apology.

BJP National Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi dismissed the allegations as a calculated distraction from the current administration’s governance failures. Speaking at a press conference, Trivedi characterized the accusations as irresponsible, insisting that the National Conference leadership focus on its legislative duties rather than leveling unsubstantiated charges.

Despite the pushback, Omar Abdullah has stood by his original statement, asserting that a BJP official directly approached one of his MLAs with a lucrative incentive. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary corroborated the claim, labeling the BJP’s political conduct as deceptive and urging the public to scrutinize the party’s motives in the region.
