Atluri, who hailed from a farming family in Moolapadu village, Andhra Pradesh, had recently finished her business studies at the Lubin School of Business and was actively seeking employment. Her family described her as a dedicated provider who balanced her own student loan repayments with efforts to support her relatives back home.

Following the collision, her cousin Ravi Kumar Atluri initiated a fundraising campaign to cover funeral costs and the repatriation of her remains. The effort has raised over $40,000 toward a $75,000 goal, with funds also designated to assist the family with travel and outstanding financial obligations. The family is currently coordinating with authorities to navigate the complex legal and logistical processes required to bring Atluri home for final rites.
