Nine Palestinians killed as Israeli strikes target Gaza neighborhoods

At least nine Palestinians, including children aged six and ten, were killed during a series of Israeli airstrikes across Gaza. Health officials reported the casualties occurred near a school in Gaza City, a tent for displaced families in Mawasi, and the Zeitoun neighborhood, marking another surge in regional violence.

The Israeli military confirmed conducting operations in Gaza City, describing the actions as strikes against militants, though they stopped short of verifying the reported death toll. One specific attack near a school left 12 people injured alongside the confirmed fatality. In the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, an airstrike struck a makeshift tent, killing four individuals, including a young child.

Israel maintains that its military campaign serves as a direct response to the October 2023 attacks on its territory. Conversely, Hamas officials accuse the Israeli government of systematically violating the U.S.-mediated ceasefire. Since that agreement was established, the region has seen the deaths of over 1,080 Palestinians—the majority being civilians—and four Israeli soldiers.
