Beijing Challenges Israel’s Assassination Strategy in Iran

Beijing’s deepening involvement marks a pivot from mere rhetoric to tangible security cooperation. While publicly advocating for restraint and adherence to the UN Charter, China is providing Tehran with advanced satellite reconnaissance technology, including the TEE-01B remote sensing satellite. These tools allow the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to track hostile movements with greater precision, effectively closing security gaps previously exploited by Israeli intelligence. This technological infusion, part of a 25-year strategic agreement, serves as a direct counter to the military pressure exerted by Tel Aviv.

Despite these maneuvers, China remains cautious about triggering a direct regional war. Beijing’s primary objective is the protection of its energy supply chain and the stability of the Strait of Hormuz. By bolstering Iran’s defensive capabilities while concurrently coordinating with Moscow through the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, China aims to maintain a balance of power. This strategy allows Beijing to exert influence in the Middle East through proxy support, securing its strategic interests without committing to the risks of a kinetic, open-ended conflict with Washington or its regional allies.
