Trump Ally Proposes National Emergency to Restrict Voting Methods

Peter Ticktin, a longtime associate of Donald Trump, is advocating for the declaration of a national emergency before the upcoming midterm elections. The Florida-based attorney claims such measures are necessary to prevent foreign intelligence interference and alleged manipulation of electronic voting machines, which he describes as a surreptitious overtaking of the country.

Ticktin, who attended the New York Military Academy with the former president, has drafted an executive order intended to overhaul national election procedures. His proposal calls for an immediate prohibition on the use of electronic voting machines and a significant reduction in mail-in ballot access. These suggestions align with Ticktin’s ongoing efforts to challenge the integrity of the 2020 election cycle, a cause he has championed while representing high-profile election skeptics like former clerk Tina Peters.

Despite these assertions, no credible public evidence has surfaced to support the theory that voting systems were compromised or that the 2020 election was stolen. A 2021 US intelligence assessment noted that nations including Russia, China, and Iran attempted to influence the political climate through misinformation campaigns, but stopped short of confirming the systematic manipulation of vote tallies. Ticktin maintains that a Democratic victory in the midterms would trigger an impeachment drive against Trump and Vice President JD Vance, potentially elevating Hakeem Jeffries to the presidency. Trump has responded to these concerns by backing the SAVE America Act and signing executive orders to tighten mail-in voting requirements.
