Delhi Government Overhauls Finance Department to Curb Stagnation

Fifty-two long-serving officials have been transferred as Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta moves to disrupt entrenched administrative patterns. The reshuffle, which also includes the promotion of 19 Senior Accounts Officers to Deputy Controllers, seeks to bolster oversight and eliminate the potential for corruption within the city's financial infrastructure.

The mass reassignment specifically targets personnel who remained in the same posting for more than five years. By rotating these officers, the administration aims to prevent the formation of stagnant work cultures and ensure greater accountability across various government branches. Gupta framed the decision as a decisive step toward a more result-oriented environment, noting that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding negligence.

Beyond simple rotation, the promotion of 19 staff members to Deputy Controllers of Accounts serves as a strategic realignment. These appointments are intended to accelerate the execution of public policies and streamline service delivery. The Chief Minister’s Office expects these structural changes to provide a more transparent framework for managing the state's financial accounts, effectively signaling an end to the status quo in departments that have faced criticism for slow internal processes.
