Ayodhya Temple Donation Probe Sparks Political Clash

The controversy centers on an FIR filed on June 25, which triggered an investigation into the handling of donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. While authorities have already arrested Avinash Shukla and impounded vehicles linked to the case, the Special Investigation Team has received an extension to expand the scope of their inquiry into the trust’s financial records.

Opposition figures have hit back, framing the scandal as a moral failing of the ruling party. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party accused the BJP of betraying both religious and constitutional duties by failing to protect the sanctity of the donation process. Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who claims his own contributions were misused, is pursuing legal avenues to challenge the governance and transparency of the temple trust. Singh’s broader critique targets what he describes as a systemic lack of accountability regarding the temple's massive financial inflows.
