Houthis Threaten Retaliation Over Intercepted Iranian Flight

Military spokesperson Yahya Sarea declared that Yemeni forces confronted Saudi warplanes attempting to block an Iranian civilian aircraft from landing at Sanaa International Airport. This aerial standoff marks a dangerous escalation in regional hostilities, with the Iran-aligned group vowing to strike Saudi infrastructure should airspace violations continue.

The Houthi leadership warns that Saudi airports and vital land or sea interests now sit in the crosshairs of potential retaliation. Despite the blockade attempt, Sarea insisted that the air corridor between Sanaa and Tehran will remain operational, signaling a firm stance against the Saudi-led coalition that has dominated the region since 2015.

Al Masirah TV confirmed that an Iranian aircraft successfully reached the capital recently, carrying an official delegation bound for the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Beyond diplomatic transit, the flight transported over 200 patients, highlighting the humanitarian stakes embedded in the conflict. The Saudi-led coalition, which intervened following the Houthi seizure of Sanaa, now faces renewed pressure as these aerial confrontations threaten to draw the parties into a wider, more volatile theater of engagement.
