Russian overnight strikes kill four in Sumy and Kryvyi Rih

A relentless wave of Russian drone and missile strikes hit Ukrainian population centers overnight, killing four civilians in the Sumy region and wounding seven more in Kryvyi Rih. The carnage follows a massive, record-breaking assault on Kyiv just one day earlier that claimed the lives of at least 36 people.

In the border region of Sumy, a drone strike claimed the lives of two women, an elderly man, and a child under two years old. Regional military administration head Oleh Hryhorov confirmed the attack also left three additional residents wounded. Separately, a missile struck a densely populated district in Kryvyi Rih. Defense council head Oleksandr Vilkul reported seven injuries in the city, which is the birthplace of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

The country remains on edge as Kyiv prepares for a day of official mourning this Friday. The capital is reeling from Thursday's bombardment, currently categorized as the deadliest single attack on the city this year. Rescue operations continue across affected sites as local authorities assess the structural damage to residential infrastructure.
