Seven Migrant Workers Killed in Karnataka Quarry Collapse

Seven laborers from Bihar died Thursday morning when boulders crushed their work site at a quarry in Madapattana, Karnataka. The accident, which also left several others injured, prompted an immediate visit from Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to Rajarajeshwari Hospital to console the victims' families and survivors.

Accompanied by Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and local legislators ST Somashekhar and AC Srinivas, Shivakumar promised comprehensive government assistance for those affected by the tragedy. The workers, employed as daily-wage laborers, were caught in the sudden collapse while on duty, marking a grim failure in site safety.

Home Minister Priyank Kharge has initiated an investigation alongside the Mines and Geology Department to determine the cause of the failure and potential regulatory lapses. Authorities are currently reviewing safety protocols at the quarry as the inquiry continues.
