China and EU Schedule High-Level Trade Consultations

China and the European Union have committed to a new rhythm of diplomatic engagement, scheduling up to two minister-level meetings annually to manage their trade and investment relationship. This agreement marks a deliberate effort to stabilize economic ties and resolve bilateral disputes through a structured consultation mechanism.

The next round of discussions is set for this autumn, with Beijing serving as the host city. Commerce ministry spokesperson He Yadong confirmed the timeline during a recent press conference, framing the initiative as a step toward fostering deeper cooperation between the two economic giants. By establishing a consistent meeting cadence, both parties aim to replace reactive policy shifts with a more predictable framework for addressing trade frictions.
