KTR, as he is popularly known, accused Reddy of making inconsistent and irresponsible statements that damage the state’s reputation. He specifically targeted the Chief Minister’s rhetoric regarding paddy procurement and wealth distribution, labeling them as contradictory. According to the BRS leader, the current financial distress is not a result of state poverty but rather stems from corruption involving the current administration and its leadership.
Contrasting the current climate with the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR pointed to past increases in agricultural production as evidence of prior success. He explicitly dared Reddy to select the venue and time for a confrontation, promising to bring facts and evidence to disprove claims of insolvency. The challenge also touched upon the optics of state spending, with KTR questioning the construction of a new official residence for the Chief Minister while the government simultaneously complains of a lack of funds.
