The revocation coincides with an intensifying U.S. campaign targeting Mexican figures suspected of ties to organized crime.

President Claudia Sheinbaum characterized the action as an unwarranted intrusion into Mexican internal affairs, noting that no domestic investigations into Lopez Beltran currently exist.
