Delhi Intensifies Public Health Drive Against TB and Dengue

Union Health Minister JP Nadda met with Delhi government officials Wednesday to synchronize strategies against tuberculosis and seasonal dengue outbreaks. The high-level review aimed to tighten the city's public health infrastructure, bridging the gap between national elimination targets and the practical hurdles of urban disease management in the capital.

The discussion centered on accelerating the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a campaign currently bolstered by a 100-day intensive push. Following the observance of World TB Day 2026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is pushing for deeper community integration and improved case detection rates. Efforts now prioritize the TB Mukt Urban Ward Initiative and the deployment of the newly launched TB Mukt Bharat App to streamline service delivery in densely populated areas.

Beyond tuberculosis, the collaboration addresses the immediate threat of seasonal vector-borne diseases. By coordinating federal resources with local Delhi administration efforts, the government seeks to pre-empt dengue surges that historically strain urban healthcare capacity. These initiatives align with the broader national objective to eliminate tuberculosis, leveraging localized urban strategies to meet the ambitious timelines set under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
