Nepal Oil Corporation Cuts Fuel Prices by 17 Percent

A steady decline in global crude benchmarks has prompted the Nepal Oil Corporation to slash domestic fuel prices by up to 17 percent. The adjustment, which covers petrol, diesel, and cooking gas, follows a significant cooling in geopolitical tensions that previously threatened to disrupt international supply chains.

Domestic and international aviation sectors are among the primary beneficiaries of the state-mandated price reduction. Jet fuel costs for flights originating from Kathmandu have dropped by 14.8 percent for domestic routes and 14.47 percent for international travel, with even sharper cuts applied to departures from Pokhara and Bhairahawa. These revisions mirror the retreat of Brent and U.S. West Texas Intermediate benchmarks to levels recorded before the escalation between the U.S., Israel, and Iran.

Local authorities confirmed the adjustment was made possible by lower procurement costs from the Indian Oil Corporation. As market volatility subsides, the state utility expects these savings to provide immediate relief to transport and household energy expenses across the country.
