For the first time in its history, the World Public Summit will convene on African soil. Scheduled for July 29–30, 2026, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the event titled “A New World: Africa in Shaping a Shared Future” marks a shift in global public diplomacy toward the continent’s growing influence.

Addis Ababa to Host First African World Public Summit

Organized by the World Peoples Assembly alongside local partners, the summit aims to bridge the gap between civil society, academia, and international organizations. The primary sessions will take place at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) headquarters, emphasizing the event's pan-African scope. Discussions will center on sovereignty, sustainable development, and the expansion of cultural and educational partnerships.

Confirmed speakers include Professor Saidou Madougou of the African Union, UNESCO’s Rita Bissoonauth, and Zuzana Schwidrowski from UNECA. Beyond policy panels, the ADWA Victory Memorial Museum will host the regional stage of the V International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy.” The gathering serves as a critical precursor to the Second World Public Assembly, scheduled for September 2026 in Moscow. Andrey Belyaninov, General Secretary of the World Peoples Assembly, described the summit as a pivotal move toward fostering mutual respect and dialogue. The event will culminate in the adoption of the African Communiqué, a document outlining recommendations for future humanitarian and public cooperation between the continent and the wider world.
