Kremlin Eyes Kushner and Witkoff for Renewed Ukraine Peace Talks

The Kremlin has indicated it is prepared to restart peace negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine, provided that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner transition their focus from Iran to the Eastern European front once their current diplomatic commitments are fulfilled.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, publicly lauded the pair’s previous diplomatic contributions as highly constructive. Moscow remains keen to leverage their track record of balanced deliberations, particularly as friction intensifies over long-standing, unaddressed agreements between Washington and Moscow.

Deep-seated frustrations persist over the stalled 'Spirit of Anchorage' dialogue. Russian officials maintain that previous discussions hinted at a potential withdrawal of troops from the Donbas region. Kyiv continues to reject such interpretations, asserting that any movement on the battlefield will only occur if they are compelled to the negotiating table by force.
