Ukrainian Missile Strike Hits Defense Plant in Voronezh

Five people died and dozens sustained injuries after a Ukrainian missile strike targeted an industrial facility in Russia’s Voronezh region on Monday. The attack, which struck a plant producing electronic components for Iskander tactical missiles, marks a significant escalation in Kyiv’s campaign against Russian defense manufacturing infrastructure.

The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the operation, stating that air-launched cruise missiles successfully struck the facility located less than 200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Regional Governor Alexander Gusev reported that the strike hit an industrial enterprise on the left bank of the Voronezh River. Beyond the plant itself, the governor noted that the blast wave damaged 10 apartment buildings and six private homes across the provincial capital.

Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, confirmed his units participated in the coordinated operation. Verified footage from the scene captured thick black smoke rising from multiple points within the factory grounds. While Kyiv has increasingly targeted Russian military production sites in recent months, the strike prompted a rare admission from Ukrainian drone manufacturer General Cherry, which reported that one of its own facilities was hit by Russian fire on the same day.
