The teenagers, aged 15 and 19, were part of a group of three targeted by Israeli troops, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA. A third individual, also 15, was wounded and remains in stable condition at a local hospital. The Israeli military stated that its forces opened fire after the group began throwing burning tires and incendiary devices toward the Karmei Tzur settlement. Reuters could not independently verify the military's account of the confrontation.
This incident follows a pattern of increasing volatility in the region, where Israeli military raids and movement restrictions on Palestinian villages have intensified. The United Nations reports that at least 57 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank this year alone during interactions involving both soldiers and settlers. While international bodies largely classify the Israeli settlements as illegal, the Israeli government rejects this characterization, citing historical ties to the territory and labeling the land as disputed.
