Dutta, who recently faced suspension from his party, emphasized that yoga holds a 5,000-year history in India and should remain untainted by partisan agendas. He noted that the Prime Minister’s personal efforts to guide participants through proper techniques during the session left a positive mark on the local crowd. According to Dutta, the event served as a point of pride for residents, effectively bridging the gap between national leadership and Bengal’s deep spiritual heritage.

Addressing the main ceremony, Prime Minister Modi focused on the theme of "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," urging citizens to view the practice as a tool for lifelong resilience rather than a pursuit for the elderly. He challenged attendees to pursue physical growth, suggesting that individuals should aim to be more flexible at 40 than they were at 20. Modi also paid tribute to the state’s spiritual lineage, acknowledging the contributions of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Lahiri Mahasaya, while commending local residents for organizing cleanliness drives to coincide with the global celebration.
