Inside the Qatari-Gifted Boeing 747 Serving as Air Force One

The aircraft, which features a livery mirroring the American flag, underwent an extensive transformation to meet presidential requirements. During a brief tour, reporters observed spacious interiors characterized by tan leather seating, elaborate wood paneling, and integrated art. The cabin is divided into functional zones, including a private suite with office space, a medical unit, and conference areas, complemented by two galleys capable of preparing 100 meals at once.

Technically, the 747-8i serves as a significant upgrade from the aging VC-25A models that have carried presidents since the George H.W. Bush administration. The new jet is roughly 18 feet longer and double the size of its predecessors, offering increased range and speed. While the previous VC-25As were built for military-grade endurance, including in-flight refueling capabilities, the new arrival prioritizes internal volume and luxury.

This jet stands in contrast to the President's personal Boeing 757, which features two engines compared to the four on this jumbo jet. The private 757 is marked by its signature golden 'Trump' lettering and opulent 24-karat gold-plated accents, differing from the more utilitarian, tan-focused aesthetic of the new Air Force One. Despite the transition, Air Force officials confirmed that the older VC-25A fleet remains available for use alongside the newly acquired aircraft.
