Lavrynovych was convicted at London’s Old Bailey court of two counts of arson with reckless disregard for human life. The attacks struck a north London house associated with Starmer, a nearby home where his sister-in-law resides, and a Toyota car formerly used by the Prime Minister. During the trial, prosecutors revealed that Lavrynovych was recruited via a Telegram account operating under the alias "EL Money." He accepted payment to perform the acts, claiming he was unaware of his specific targets.
Judge Neil Garnham delivered a stern rebuke during sentencing, describing Lavrynovych as a man of low intellectual functioning who was easily bought for "grubby little tasks." While Lavrynovych received a seven-year term, his accomplice, 27-year-old Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc, was sentenced to two years for his role in the conspiracy. Investigators have not identified the entity behind the Telegram account that orchestrated the campaign.
