Vijayan specifically pointed to the Southern Keralam Economic Corridor and the development of Rare Earth and Critical Mineral corridors as evidence of the government ceding control of the state’s coastline. He expressed deep skepticism regarding the proposed Health and Life Science City, suggesting the project serves as a vehicle for international investment giants like KKR to secure a foothold in the region. According to the opposition leader, these initiatives represent a broader erosion of land reform protections and a move to bypass the interests of coastal residents.
Beyond structural policy, the critique targeted the government's narrative on fiscal stability. Vijayan dismissed the administration’s portrayal of a financially dangerous situation as a political fabrication, noting that the budget includes an additional estimate of Rs 2,000 crore. He contrasted this with the reduction of funding for traditional industrial sectors, suggesting that the government remains silent on how federal policy pressures impact the state’s internal financial health.
