Poland arrests suspect in murder of anti-Kremlin artist

A 36-year-old man carrying a Georgian passport is in custody following the targeted killing of Russian artist Robert Kuzovkov in eastern Poland. Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the arrest on Thursday, as investigators hunt for those who ordered the hit on the outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Kuzovkov, widely recognized by his pseudonym Semyon Skrepetsky, died in the city of Biala Podlaska after sustaining five gunshot wounds, including a fatal shot to the head. Polish authorities, working alongside the Internal Security Agency, are currently piecing together the motive behind the execution-style slaying. While two Belarusian nationals remain in detention for questioning, neither has faced formal charges.

Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski noted that investigators are examining a range of potential perpetrators, including groups the artist had previously targeted in his public work. Before his death, Kuzovkov had been actively protesting against Russian authorities, including a recent demonstration in Berlin. Tusk emphasized that the focus of the ongoing investigation remains on identifying the mastermind behind the attack.
